AUSTRALIA

1918 1d pale rosine KGV Head (shade = G68), with the variety ‘die I substituted cliché [very early state]’ [IV/35], used – no thins, tears or bends. Has a Starling certificate.

This is the very early state of the variety which features a weak vertical band at the right, through the Emu. This state of the variety is extremely rare and was present for very few sheets before it was corrected or it disappeared of its own accord.
